Describe something you have built recently.
I conceptualized and oversaw the development of a music e-commerce website for Shiekh Music. I am currently developing two startups including a platform for songwriters + record labels and a consumer-facing mobile app and content distribution channel with contextually relevant ancillary content. I have spent the last 10 years in business + marketing across retail, entertainment, fashion, and consumer packaged product industries. I’ve managed artists, owned and operated a boutique record label, music publishing company, and artist management company. I’ve consulted with major labels on marketing and promotions, recently working closely with Island Def Jam Music Group. I spent the last 3.5 years as VP of Marketing at Shiekh Shoes, were I also acted as Founder & GM of Shiekh Music (music retail, live concerts, and event tours).
Why do you want to work on a startup or side project?
Passion. I'm an entrepreneur at heart.
Anything else you'd like to mention about yourself?
I am currently developing a music business tech startup. I have a prototype representing this platform. Ultimately, there will be a cloud-based platform accessible via Internet and mobile apps (iPhone, iPad, Android, Blackberry, Windows Phone, etc.). I already have two senior executive advisors from major record labels based in Los Angeles and New York. I've been working with UCLA Institute for Technology Advancement on the tech "discussion". Prototype built and currently being used to secure LOI's. Seeking a technical co-founder to possibly enter an accelerator program or independently seek seed funding for beta.
